OK lets give you the run-down of what this board entails. 1. This will be the place where ALL newcomers to the fed, come to learn how to promo to an acceptable standard. Because lets face it, a sample promo can be anything... It's the week to week promos which make the CAW and Character successful.
2. From time to time we will ask certain members of the roster for guest lessons... e.g what Decat and Switch did for Jackel on his application.
3. Most of this will be done IN CHARACTER by Riles and Myself playing AWF Professor Riley Taylor with his Assistant Kim and special guest CK Malicious.
4. The reason for this is we as staff think there is room for improvement in a few of us and this board is to help you become a better writer and to help you expand your character(s)
OK well that was just a short introduction to the idea behind Promo 101. We will be asking for our first students shortly... Thank you.
Oh and not everyone will have to participate, this is just for a select few to help them along. but, if you have some valid input. Please share. Thanks again.

it's a good idea but i suggest more ooc kinda thing because if you do IC that can go against certain character gimmicks and really not be that beneficial.
also, just a pre-advice thing. i wouldn't make it sound like anyone's advice is what's absolutely right seeing as there are many different styles to rping and the "rules" that apply vary from gimmick to gimmick and whether they're face, heel, or tweener.

Yeah, we will be doing OOC for the advice we're just using the characters to get people using their character... and your right there is no right or wrong, this is more for the descriptive writing aspect and grammer etc. We do not want to force a gimmick on someone, after all the character IS the owners.
We wont be having rules, this will be just a fun thing to use for those we feel could use a little help.

You know these are all excellent points. I think that a good promo comes from something thought out rather than on the spot (unless your that good). It should come naturally, like your telling a story. You want others to be interested in what you are saying and keep them drawn in to see what happens next. Not just throw words together to fit.

Not just throw words together to fit. too a point i agree about telling it like a story. you don't want an rp being 100% random. it can make it very confusing. however, it is better for some characters to have teh bit of randomness or scatterness in their dialog that I've noticed Manor has lol. by adding that bit i think it helps manor look more like a guy who works on impulses and doesn't plan many things out. but i think my style of rping(add a bit of randomness to it) is a gamble since you want to have just the right amount. I'd guess that if you haven't taken numerous writing classes or haven't used it before, more than likely you'll have to practice and force it until you get into the swing of it like most styles lol.

Oh absolutely. I just try not to be random as my own personal preference. I mean, yea I have taken classes in my time so it does help. I just think it's my own personal touch to try to plan things out so that way it makes sense later on. I have a tendency to lose track if I do it other wise and later on things will lose connection and not make sense.

The great thing about efedding is reading everyone elses promos and working on your own.. i personally write on impulse, never think it through.. just write. With the comment about complete randomness, i agree... this is something we will address in the lessons, among other things.. Looks like we've stirred up something here... hey guys, let us have the first couple of lessons and see how it goes... your input is greatly appreciated, at least I know we're together in trying to improve the overall standard of the fed.
