The camera fades in to show the cafeteria where Michael Jamborgh stands before a whiteboard with Sarah Alyssa. The camera pans over to view the others in the room, catching shots of Catastrophe, David Hitz, Magnum, Allan Martel, Cain, Jim Norris, Kouryuu, and Kairez. "Gentlemen, the eight of you have survived the qualifiers for this year's Dead Heat Tournament and I must say, I'm glad no members of NEX-GEN made it. In just a moment, we will do the second blind draw for the bracket placement, and send our first two competitors on the way to their quarter-final bout. So, gentlemen, let us begin! Catastrophe!" Michael calls. Catastrophe approaches the box and draws his number, heaving a sigh as he looks at the number.
"Two." Catastrophe states. "I'm just gonna go ahead and go."
"David Hitz."
David stands and takes his draw, showing it to Michael.
"Number eight, alright. Magnum?"
Magnum stands and pulls his draw from the box. He hands the number to Michael and looks toward Catastrophe, down the hall. "I'm gonna go join him." Magnum states, making his exit.
"You think they realize their match isn't for a while, yet?" Michael asks.
"I doubt it." Sarah shakes her head. Michael laughs and turns back to the rest of the group.
"Allan!"
Allan stands and moves toward Sarah, reaching in and pulling out number five. "I don't suppose I'll get to use weapons, this year?"
"No. Stop asking. Cain!" Cain stands and, without a word, pulls his draw and hands it to Michael. "Alright, number three. Jimmy?"
Jim stands and approaches Sarah, pulling his number from the box and looking at it. He lets out something of a disappointed sigh, looking to Michael. "Four. Doesn't the qualifier team standoff usually happen in the finals?"
"Apparently it came early, this year." Michael laughs. "So, Kouryuu? Kairez? Either of you wanna try your luck?" Kairez stands and approaches the draw box.
"I will." Kairez states, removing his number. "Six."
"So, that makes Kouryuu number seven. Jimmy, since your match is next week, you'll be competing here in just a few moments, teaming with Maverick against the Persuasion." Michael states. Jim stands and gives an exaggerated salute before exiting the room, heading toward the arena.
Match 1: Asian Persuasion v. Jim Norris & Maverick Miller
- Maverick Miller pinned Tiananman after the Maverick Kick at 12:40.
Match 2: Levithan v. Alex DuVry
- Alex DuVry pinned Levithan with a roll-up at 13:19.
Match 3: Cornerstone (w/ Shane Warner) v. Yugo Ryan & Kairez
- Kairez pinned Jarvick Redrock after the Smoke & Mirrors at 25:01.
Match 4: Dead Heat 2009 Quarter-final - Magnum v. Catastrophe
- Catastrophe pinned Magnum after a hurracanrana at 9:48 to advance in the Dead Heat 2009 Tournament.
As the closing bell rings, Catastrophe stands and points up the entryway toward the video wall where the image clicks to life, displaying the current tournament standings. Magnum's name grays out from the brackets as a line signifying Catastrophe's advancement lights up. Catastrophe approaches the camera and says something which remains uncaught by the sound as he climbs out of the ring and makes his way up the entrance ramp.
Main Event: MWL North American Championship - Hardcore: (C) Lino v. Anthony Jacobs
- Anthony Jacobs pinned Lino after a DDT at 24:40 to win the MWL North American Championship.
"Two." Catastrophe states. "I'm just gonna go ahead and go."
"David Hitz."
David stands and takes his draw, showing it to Michael.
