As the opening video package winds down, the image fades in to the cafeteria of the MWL Arena, where a whiteboard is set up, Michael Jamborgh and Sarah Alyssa standing beside it. The camera pans around to show those before them, catching shots of the Cornerstone, CTHD, Levithan, Cain, Catastrophe, Lino, Alex DuVry, Jim Norris, Maverick Miller, Magnum, Anthony Jacobs, David Hitz, Kairez, and Allan Martel. "Alright, everyone! It's that time of the year, again! Time for the annual Dead Heat Tournament!" Michael announces, raw excitement in his voice. A half-hearted clap is heard.
"Whoo, yay, Dead Heat Tournament. Again." AJ "cheers".
"Shut up, AJ. Now then, the winner of this year's tournament will receive TWO prizes, which will be unveilied later on. So, everyone, prepare yourselves as we draw the lots for this year's qualifiers. Jarvick!" Michael calls. Jarvick stands and approaches Sarah, who is holding the annual lot box. Jarvick reaches in and removes his slip, showing it to Michael.
"Four." Jarvick states.
"Reinhardt!" Michael calls. Lucas stands and approaches Sarah, staring awkwardly for a few moments.
"Draw, before I hit you." Sarah states.
"Okay, okay, okay!" Lucas states, drawing his number. "Six."
"CTHD?" Michael calls. Kouryuu and Byakko both approach the box and draw, showing their numbers to Sarah.
"Kouryuu is eight, and Byakko got one." Sarah states.
"Levithan?" Michael calls. Levithan stands and approaches Sarah, smirking at CTHD as he passes.
"Four." Levithan states.
"Cain." Michael calls. Cain stands and approaches Sarah, drawing his number and showing it to Michael. "Okay, five. Catastrophe."
Catastrophe stands and draws his number, showing it to Michael. "Two."
"Lino!" Lino reaches over and draws his number without standing up.
"Seven." Lino states.
"So, so far, we have team four Jarvick and Levithan, and...that's it. Huh. Okay, Alex?" Alex stands and approaches Sarah, drawing his lot.
"Number one, baby!" Alex shouts.
"And so now, we have Byakko and Alex. Jimmy?" Michael calls. Jim stands and plunges his hand into the box, pulling out his ticket. "Aaw, man, I'm stuck with Cain!"
"So, that's a 'five', then... Maverick?" Maverick stands and approaches Sarah, drawing his number.
"Six." Maverick states, holding up his ticket.
"Alright, so now we have Reinhardt and Miller. Magnum."
"Three." Magnum states, already having drawn his number.
"Alright, AJ. And so help me, no attacks this time around." Michael states.
"We'll see." AJ answers, standing and drawing his number. He waves it in Michael face before flinging it at him. "Seven."
"WHAT?!" Lino shouts. "You mean I'm stuck with him?!"
"Hey, you think I'm fond of being teamed up with you either, old man?" AJ demands.
"Why, you little..." Lino begins.
"Both of you, settle down! David?" Michael asks. David stands and steps around the two men exchanging glares and draw his number.
"Two." David states.
"Alright, so that gives us David and Catastrophe... I was going to send it on over to the first qualifier, but, what the hell. Kairez!" Michael calls.
Kairez stands and approaches Sarah, drawing one of the final two numbers. "It's an eight." Kairez states.
"Alright, so then that makes Allan a three..." Michael states, scribbling the final notes onto the whiteboard. He turns around and faces the sixteen men before him. "Byakko, Alex DuVry, Catastrophe, and David Hitz, the four of you have your qualifier now!" Michael shouts as the four of them make their exit.
Match 1: Dead Heat Tournament 2009 Qualifier - Byakko & Alex DuVry v. Catastrophe & David Hitz
- David Hitz pinned Alex DuVry after the Toledobomb at 16:54 to advance to the Dead Heat Tournament.
The camera cuts back to the drawing room, where all the men from before remain, sans Lino and AJ. Michael turns to the whiteboard and speaks. "Magnum, Allan Martel, Jarvick Redrock, and Levithan, the four of you have the next qualifier!"
Match 2: Dead Heat Tournament 2009 Qualifier - Magnum & Allan Martel v. NEX-GEN (Jarvick Redrock & Levithan)
- Magnum pinned Levithan after the Shatter Bomb at 17:17 to advance to the Dead Heat Tournament.
Match 3: Chad Vritska v. Lucas Reinhardt
- Chad Vritska pinned Lucas Reinhardt with a roll-up at 9:36.
Match 4: Scott Froelich v. Viper
- Viper pinned Scott Froelich after a side russian leg sweep at 16:24.
Main Event: MWL World Heavyweight Championship - (C) Shane Warner (w/ Anthony Jacobs) v. Yugo Ryan
- Yugo Ryan pinned Shane Warner after a belly-to-back suplex at 14:45 to win the MWL World Heavyweight Championship.
After the referee hands the MWL World Heavyweight Championship belt to Yugo, he climbs out of the ring and backs up the entryway, holding his title belt overhead. Shane Warner pushes himself to his feet as AJ steps into the ring. Shane immediately moves toward him and begins shouting. Shane reaches up and slaps AJ. AJ looks around the arena, giving a grin. The grin eventually turns to a snarl as he winds up and hammers Shane in the face. Shane collapses to the mat while AJ stands over him, giving a twisted grin as the show fades to a close.
