First off, I just wanna say: Welcome to the Atlantic Wrestling Federation. What follows are the rules and code of conduct for AWF. Follow and obey these rules and we should all get along just fine.
1. Be courteous to others
Anyone who has even been a part of an online community should be well acquainted with this rule. Nevertheless it must be said because there's always some a-hole who just won't listen.
We run a friendly fed here and assholery of any kind will not be tolerated. It's the golden rule wherever you go, be nice to others and they'll be nice to you. If multiple people are being assholes to you, unless it's under extreme circumstances, usually it's because you've been an asshole to them, and if you run to a member of the AWF Staff, they will most likely tell you just that. Bottom line: PLAY NICE
2. All new members wishing to participate must apply within the Recruitment Area
Unless you have been given prior permission by myself, you must place an application in the Recruitment Area of the forum and until you have been accepted, all posts regarding your CAW go there. Applications must involve a sample promo and a formula. The promo will help us in the AWF Staff understand where you're going with your character and how he will act. Newly accepted members are only allowed one active CAW. You will be allowed to have a second CAW, but only after a staff member has given you permission. Your CAW must also have originality. Don't come to use with a muscle bound blonde named Lex Luger or a tanned 60-year old named Hulk Hogan, 'cause they'll be shot down the instant we see them. Only original and fictional characters will be allowed. Also make sure your CAWs are proportionate and realistic. Don't send us a 6' 7" muscle bound man classified as a cruiserweight. That will most definitly be shot down until you rework him.
Another thing that needs to be mentioned: Super Heavyweights are completely and utterly banned. No getting around this, no barganing. Your formula will not even be given a second look until you lower their weight class.
As for your CAW's formula, we really don't have a set template or guildlines on how to post them. However that does not mean send it to us as one big giant sentences with no periods or signs of where one thing stops and another one begins. If you do that, you will not be accepted until you have fixed your formula to where we can properly read it. Remember, the space bar and the enter keys are your friends. USE THEM
In a passing note, if you are active in another fed, we would prefer it if your CAW is new and original. But as a fellow gamer who has played SmackDown vs RAW since the first one way back when, I understand it can be a pain to make a whole new CAW. So if you are set and comfortable with a CAW you've been using for years, go ahead and post it.
3. Each member has individual responsibilities
Getting into the AWF can be easy, but being tossed out can be even easier. Each member has certain responsibilities they must keep up with. The main responsiblity of the members is to keep up the promos for their character, at least one a week. Promos can be used to fan the fires of a fued, start a fued, even end a fued. I cannot stess enough how important promos are in a fed.
In the past we required all members to promo at least once a week in order for their CAW to remain active in the game under penalty of suspension and firing. It soon became apparent though that we could not enforce this rule as we would end up suspending over half the roster as many people went weeks without promoing, for personal reasons or otherwise. As such, the rules are as of now being revised. As long as you still come on the board every now and then, your CAW will be left up. If you do not come online for over a month, your CAW will be released. I'll explain the differences between released and fired a little later.
The new policy with promoing is that if you wish for your character to ever been involved in a title picture, you need to regularly promo, and promo good. If you never promo but still come on the boards, your CAW will just be put in whatever match we come up with and will never aspire to greatness. So if you wish for your CAW to work his way up the ladder and win some titles, you will have to promo.
Another thing to remember about promos, less is more. While rich and detailed promos are good and encouraged, there is a point where it just seems to turn into you showing off your vocabulary. People will lose interest in overly long promos and often times not respond to them if it as directed at them. So try to find a balance between detail and length. DO NOT USE ONE PROMO TO WRITE A WHOLE FLIPPIN' NOVEL!!!
This has been becoming a problem lately and I have been requested to put it up on here, forced role-playing. There is not a problem with you every now and then jumping people backstage, that is how heat is generated for feuds and is often a nice break from the monotony of backstage activities. This does not mean jump people backstage every freakin' day of the week. Try to keep attacks and majorly controlling other peoples CAWs down to a bare minimum. Now what do I mean by 'majorly' controlling another CAW? If they are doing something simple, ex: opening a door, walking, sitting down, stuff like that there isn't usually a problem. Anything beyond that, especially if you want them to use dialogue, get permission from the CAWs owner first.
Now to explain the differences between a CAW being released and a CAW being fired. When a CAW is released, it is taken off the active roster and moved to the in-active roster. If you come back from a long trip or whatever and find your CAW has been released, contact an admin, preferably myself, and if you can give complete and utter assurances that you will not disappear for a long time without notice again, your CAW will be put back on the active roster. BUT, if we put your CAW back on the active roster and you disappear again after just maybe a week and you have not notified an admin that you will be disappearing, your CAW will be FIRED!! What does it mean to be fired? It means your CAW will be completely deleted and you will not be allowed back on the active roster.
Please keep changes to your wrestler at a bare minimum, not much more than once every few weeks. So don't come to us every week with a new theme song. If you make a change on to your guy, change your formula and make the amendments in a different color of text to make it eaiser on the staff to find what's been changed. There's nothing wrong with wanting to change your music or appearance every couple of weeks, but don't do something crazy like change your entire moveset. Easiest way to avoid this: keep testing out music and movesets till you find the one that works best with your guy and stick with them.
If you have a certain type of match you would like to take part in and know who you want your opponent to be, post it in The Office. This won't always be neccessary as us here at the AWF Staff will check promos quite often, but keep in mind that we are humans too and we sometimes forget and overlook things, so just think of it as a courtesy measure.
Please make sure all your posts, not just your promos, use proper english. While no one here is an expert at english, it can really spoil a dramatic promo when your typing is barely legible.
5. 2010 additions
Since 2010 has made it easier to adjust stats this year, everyone is allowed to have stats that when added up, add up to 600. It'll be up to individuals to keep track of what abilities they want and what stats they want raised, since some abilities are only unlock after having so much into one stat.
Speaking of abilities, two of the abilities are banned this year. Resiliency and Fired-Up these abilities are just too strong. For those that aren't aware, Resiliency makes it near impossible for Superstars to be pinned or submitted, and Fired-Up gives the ability to preform three finishers in a row.
6. The AWF Staff
We at the AWF Staff are here to help you and answer your questions. If you have a question about how the fed works and runs, feel free to ask myself, Osiris, or AJ Riles. This however does not mean harass us with the same question over and over again.
And please, do not ask to be made part of the AWF Staff. This won't earn you any favor by the staff, it'll actually have the opposite effect. If we, the AWF Staff, feel we need another staff member, we will decide who it will be.
That's pretty much it for Da Rulz. The only thing left to cover is title eligability which I will cover in another post. Welcome to AWF and remember, this is a place for fun. So have fun, dammit!
